SwingPad won't read swings

I have just purchased the optishot and installed the software. I have a bright green light and the rest are light red on my swing pad but it doesn't read my swings. I went straight to the driving range and tried TESTING FUNCTIONALITY BEFORE USE option (6 iron) in the FAQs section but no luck. I relocated the swing pad and my laptop to a darker room (closed the curtains) and still nothing. I also used the SwingPad diagnostics app and all sensors seem to be working/reading okay.

Any suggestions?

Thanks in advance.

I exchanged the optishot this morning for a new unit, all is good now... must have been a defective swingpad.

I purchased the OptiShot about four weeks ago. At first I was disappointed because the driver and 3 wood was so inaccurate. I have an R11 Driver. But after research and testing I found the key components that make it work perfectly. Now my driver is so accurate it's unbelievable. I can also shape shots and put a draw on it. I see people complain about it being inaccurate, but if you use white tape on the driver and then adjust your club set with distance adjustments and offset adjustments then you can get it tuned to your exact golf swing. My OptiShot is tuned perfectly now an I love it!

So the key components are:
- You must put 1 inch wide "WHITE" tape on the bottom of your driver closest to the face edge all the way across the width of the driver head. Don't use metallic tape like others suggest. I did a lot of testing and had metallic tape. After switching to the WHITE tape is was immediately 100% better and I was finally happy!!!

  • 2nd most important thing is lighting. Do not use regular light bulbs. Also you don't want anything too bright! I setup a light about 9 feet above the OptiShot that has a 25 watt fluorescent bulb (it's the new bulbs you see that coil in circles).

Here's the best tips to build a cost effect setup:
Buy a Monster Tee Golf Turf 60" x 60" for $103 at:

Buy "OptiShot Tee Line Turf" from Golf Simulator Guys for $115. This is important because the top is the thick 1" turf that has both sensor covered and what's important also is they have a custom rubber insert that flattens the OptiShot making it flat.

Then you need to build a base thick enough to cut out a placement for the OptiShot. Go to a Farm and Fleet or similar place and buy a cow mat/horse mat that is 3/4" thick rubber (they are heavy). Then make cutout for placing the OptiShot in. Make same cut out in a carpet padding and glue to the rubber mat. Then glue monster turf on top of the carpet padding. This should bring up the mat equal height with the OptiShot using the thick 1" turf top.

You can buy these mats already built but are expensive in the 1" thick turf.
For less cost you can buy a 1/2 thick turf from with the OptiShot already cut out at:

I bought an impact screen for $250 + $50 shipping from:
http://www.virtual-golf-simulator.com/Golf_Impact_Screens.html
This screen is 8'x12'. It is great for hitting real or fake golf balls into. What's nice about it is they sew in slits that allow you to put pvc along all sides which make the screen nice and straight and you don't have to rely on bungee cords which cause wrinkles on edges.

I bought a short throw Optoma GT750 project on Ebay for $630. It is REALLY NICE! I'm going to check out the 3D with the golf. Might be cool!

Hopefully these tips can help others out.
