A plastic piece came flying off, what is it??

I have a plastic piece, which looks like it may have came off the cable? It's almost 1 inch long and has two sides, with a hollow middle which looks like it would be for the cable.

Is it from the USB cable? What is it's purpose?

Thanks!

Will

Hi Will,

I am not sure. Can you send a picture? More importantly, is your OptiShot functioning normally?

Kind regards,

Here is a picture of the piece that came flying.

After that the only funny thing that happened on the Optishot was that

the face reversed on the screen after I hit a ball , as if I was left

handed and facing the opposite direction. I exited and went to

practice mode and things seemed normal again.

I will try an actual course tonight to see if it is normal again.

Trying to figure out the significance of this piece.

Thanks!

Will

That is a ferrite core. It is basically a magnet that clips on to electrical cords for some electronics that help to keep static electricity interference at bay. They are inexpensive and may be picked up at many electronics stores like Radio Shak or online from Amazon.

In the winter time when the heat is on and the air is dry, static charges tend to be more common. When swinging an iron and lightly brushing the turf, occasionally a static charge can build up and discharge into the USB cable causing the Swing Pad to shut off. The simple work around is to unplug the USB and plug it back it in to dissipate the charge and bring the Swing Pad back online again. The other solution, of course is to clip a ferrite core onto the USB cable to magnetically clean the electrical noise from the line.
