Every Friday afternoon my garage gets converted into my Golf Room. The wife's van get's to spend the weekend out in the cold, while me and my buddies put down some cold ones and play golf...
I purchased a home theater projector online because my boss wasn't too thrilled with me taking home the office presentation projector every weekend.
MY INSTALLATION:
I added some heavy duty brackets off the back of my garage door opener, and mounted the PC I use for my Optishot on top.
I used the additional brackets left over from my garage door opener to hang my projector just behind the motor of the opener.
I have to place the sensor pad directly under the opener for maximum clearance because I have ( 2 ) friends who are left handed.
When I bought the Optishot I also purchased the 2 piece mat, and I made an additional mat with 2 layers of carpet padding (Heavy Duty Type) and indoor/outdoor turf. All glued together with industrial spray epoxy. I covered the edges with good old Duct Tape to keep the turf from getting frayed.
The projected image is 88" diagonal, and pretty clear.
Currently we play with the "No Ball" option because I don't think the video screen I have will take the abuse of the "Almost Golf Balls"
I am in the process of making a larger screen, and reinforcing it with painters tarps and moving blankets. Idea's I got from reading other posts here! (Thanks Guys!)
When completed the projected image will be 135" diagonal. I've tested it with a few white sheets, and the image is still clear! Just going to have to move my projector back a few feet.
Attached are some photos of the set up:
1.) Projector / PC Mounting
2.) Hitting Mats
3.) View of Screen from behind Mats
4.) Shot of Hole #1 on West Maui Plantation (Flash on camera distorted photo) MUCH clearer in person!!!
